He appeared in the April 1972 issue of Cosmopolitan after Helen Gurley Brown pitched the idea as a "milestone in the sexual revolution." The magazine sold out its entire 1.5 million-copy run just months before Deliverance hit theaters. The keychain was released shortly after.
