An historical novel set in the macabre world of Barcelona's mean streets in the 1940s aftermath of the Spanish Civil War, and focusing on corrupted young people including a gang of streetwise slum kids, cripples, orphans, etc. Well-preserved and in presentable, collectible condition. Minutely crimped to the lower spine edge, else very nearly fine, square, and tight in polished black linen boards over smooth golden-sand boards with blind embossed publisher's insignia to the front cover and with bold gilt embossed titles to the spine, black-and-yellow headband and tail-band, golden-sand end-papers; in a near fine Paul Bacon illustrated dust jacket with a small, mild former-sticker shadow to the upper front panel, lightly rubbed crimps to the lower spine edge, and faint dust soiling to the rear panel; original printed $9.95 price still intact to the front inner flap.
