Item description
@ Symbol Clear Sphere Desk Clock MOMA Museum Of Modern Art Ray Tomlinson.
So this is an interesting item. No brand packaging with it and no comparables we could find. The @ symbol is attributed to Ray Tomlinson who created it according to MOMA?s web site
?In 1967, Tomlinson joined the technology company Bolt Beranek and Newman, where in 1971 he created the world's first e-mail system for the United States government's Advanced Research Projects Agency Networks (ARPAnet). He adopted @ as a stand-in for the long and convoluted programming language indicating a message's destination.?
In 2010, the Museum of Modern Art (MOMA) acquired the @ symbol.
We have no idea where this little clear lucite clock originated. We assume from MOMA but there is no identification. It could just have been used without license by a company as a promotional tool but one would think a name would be attached somewhere. It?s a mystery but this (possibly) one of a kind item could be yours!
The clock is actually weighted so it can sit on a desk top and you can easily see the time without having to look directly down. Clock is 1.75 inches across so not big - but really cool! Any programmer or coder would love this!
Condition is pre-owned and purchased at a recent estate sale.
Will ship USPS first class with tracking free to winning buyer DC/AC
