Artist Notes about the work: Thinking of when I spent a summer in Europe in the mid-1980s when looking thru old photos from my adventure. We, the school group I was with, saw many circus', plays and live performances along the way. I think I have been in love with all things French ever since and the performance arts in general. Even to this day, I take in local live performances at the various venues around Ventura. This on in particular, I was taken with the colors and characters who were so bold and daring. Perhaps I was channeling Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, he worked in the same medium on brown paper.
