James Toogood received his formal training at thePennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts in Philadelphia where he now teaches watercolor painting. James also teaches watercolor in Moorestown, and Bedminster, New Jersey. His paintings have been widely exhibited and collected and have gained numerous awards.
James is a signature member of many art
organizations including the American Watercolor Society. In addition, his work is represented in public and private collections all over the world.
James has an incredible talent for creating light depth and texture within a painting. Through this
informative video you will be able to follow along as he demonstrates his techniques for achieving such stunning pictures.
Painting a scene at St. Georges, Bermuda, James shows how many layers of paint add interest to
a watercolor by creating the illusion of
light and depth. He shows how to build texture by careful use of brushmarks and other techniques.
A demonstration on how to successfully paint water is also included, along with other useful explanations on the use of light in your paintings
