Description Ensete maurelii is a fast-growing banana plant, with an upright growth habit often reaching up to 12’ – 20’ feet tall. When provided ideal growing season conditions, it may get larger. It can be kept to about 5 feet tall in a pot. It's indigenous to East Africa and resembles plants commonly associated with the musa genus. The plant has green leaves with red highlights which will sometimes nearly cover the entire leaf. Leaves can reach 10' long, but typically will be in the 2-3' range, less in a pot. Ensete's dramatic look will be the centerpiece of any tropical landscape. Plant comes in 2-1/2 x 2-1/2 x 3-1/2 inch shipping pot. Current stock is 4-6 inches tall. Cultivation Ensete maurelii is fast growing and will do best in zones 10-11.
