Two Metal Cast Vintage Horse Book Ends; Once Gilded, Now Becoming Hi Ho Silver---If you like rustic decorations on your bookshelf try these two vintage all metal bookends. Once "gildings" (intentional play on words) they are slowly turning into silvers. They are made from a cast metal (non-magnetic) which I believe is cast aluminum. They were painted gold but as the thin paint recedes and disappears they are emerging as a bright silver color. The new owner will have 3 option (1) Enjoy them as they are (2) spray paint them gold or (3) remove the remaining paint and make them "Hi Ho Silvers."
FAULTS: Getting older always leave its marks and our horses are no exception. In addition to losing pigment one horse (see last two photos) has lost the tip of his ear AND the felt on the bottoms has all but worn away.
Measurements: Each horse is 7.5 in long, 2.5 in wide and 6.5 in tall. Each weighs 1 lb. 10 oz.
