(WI), Whitman catalog #1535. 1-587 Simply one of the most gorgeous versions of this book that I've run into since 1956! Some very minor wear at the front lower gutter, with a 29/32" crease running through it; plus a 15/16" crease running through the front upper gutter; plus a 5/16" corner crimp at the rear top right corner; plus very light corner wear at ALL corners, with NO corner bends! Plus NO bumping rolling at the spine edges -- VERY unusual for a Whitman glossy hardcover! In addition, NO lamination lifts -- the previous owner must have guarded this book well! And NO spine splits, either! The only writing is a penciled price on the title page -- but that's it! A really fantastic addition to any Disney collector or Whitman collector -- overall condition Very Fine or better! This is NOT a first printing of the Whitman edition, since the catalog number on the spine reads only "1535," instead of "1535:49," as most Whitman "1500" and "2300" editions were listed until 1957 or later (the "49" was the "suggested retail price," which was increased to at least 59 cents (or more) on later editions) -- the true Whitman SPIN AND MARTY first edition from 1956 will have a catalog number on the spine reading "1535:49." In addition, several of the other Whitman titles listed on page 213 were published in 1957, and thus did not appear in the true Whitman first edition of SPIN AND MARTY.
