In volume one, when a hostage is taken in Pakistan and initial talks to gain his release fail, Yugo Beppu, hostage negotiator extraordinaire, is called for. Yugo, however, soon has to deal with a killer who left the last negotiator dead. In volume two, Yugo's negotiations in Pakistan get off to a rocky start when he is captured by the anti-government dacoits as a prisoner, rather than received as an emissary. Sentenced to roast in the sun, he must survive gruesome torture to prove his worth as a hero to the fearsome dacoit leader, Yusuf Ali Mesa. In volume three, when the Soviet Union collapsed, a 200 billion-dollar legacy was left buried in its ruins. The key to uncovering it lies in the hands of Nadenka, a young girl who possesses a mysterious Khristos ring. When Yugo is hired to bring her to Japan, he finds himself trapped in the midst of a deadly web of greed and treachery. Finally, in volume four, after helping the Romanovski heiress Nadenka attempt an escape to Japan with the Khristos ring in his last Russian adventure, Yugo is still in Russia, infiltrating an FSK base in order to get to a top dog within the organization. He plans to eventually negotiate with the dreaded General Garachova but there seems little hope as the sadistic General and his men subject Yugo to a brutal interrogation. His only hope of escape alive lies with Nadenka and unlocking the mystery of the rings.
