This follow-up to the hugely successful 'Roots' (1977) traces the next generation of Kunta Kinte's family from 1882 onwards, and examines the changing face of racism and the African-American struggle for true emancipation. It follows the life of author Alex Haley (James Earl Jones) up to 1970s America, and then turns full-circle to go back to the birthplace of Kunte Kinte. Just like the first series, this features a superb who's who of African-American actors of their day, along with Hollywood heavyweights such as Henry Fonda, Olivia De Havilland and Harry Morgan.
