It relates to another uranium mineral, CARNOTITE. Carnotite emerges as a weathered- version of Tyuyamunite, with yellow coloration where uranium is visible on the rock. Typically, it has scattered colors of yellow and black on its rock surface. Both Tyuyamunite and Carnotite rocks are found nearby in the same uranium fields, near the ground surface. Tyuyamunite is plentiful on the Colorado Plateau, near Uravan. It is also found throughout the Jurassic Canyon NM locality. It was named in 1912 after a region in Asia's Kyrgyzstan, TYUYA-MUYUN. This uranium mineral is found at many places worldwide, including Australia, New Zealand, Namibia, Central Asia, Brazil, Czech Republic, Russian Federation, Ukraine, and India.
