Item description
This Sale is for One (1) Lot of Genuine Lake Erie Beach Glass
Surf Tumbled
Assorted Shades
Forty (40+) pieces (different sizes)
Lake Erie Beach Glass is ideal for creating jewelry and other crafts
Some pieces are approximately the size of a nickel/quarter ~ which are great for wire wrapping as necklace pendants
Others are dime size, which are typically used for wire wrapped earrings and charms
The beach glass we find can be as old as the late 1800's and early 1900's when common practice was to dump trash into the lakes
I have found deep red glass from 1930 that is likely a bottom from an apothecary bottle
Red and orange colored glass was used as a warning that something dangerous was inside
Some of the deep blue glass contained other medicines
Purple pieces started out as white glass that contained manganese, and with exposure to the UV rays of the sun began to turn a light purple shade. You can place these pieces in direct sunlight, and their purple hue will deepen over time
I have created mosaic treasures on top of an old piano bench ~ several tables and a back splash for my kitchen at our camp
Please view photos for a good description of these pieces
Thank you!
