Japanese Art and Culture Book
Nihon Bijutsu No 271
Hell Illustrations. Japanese Traditional artistic representations of hell, purgatory, the apocalypse, and after-life for the condemned. The source of the images are Japanese scrolls, and show the strong influence of ancient Buddhist notions of hades, and the inferno. The first third of the book is full color plate, and the balance is B/W, packed with amazing images on nearly every spread.
I am selling another book of a similar theme of, but the images between the two are entirely different.
Images of hell, traditional notions of devils, immortals, the condemned, torment, etc. are popular source themes for traditional Japanese Tattoo artists and patrons.
