HB PowerBilt Levelume 2-9 Iron Set 1975-ish
Excellent faces, ferrels, great shafts, almost ready to play. Grips could be replaced.
The Levelume soles are wider than standard blades from this era, giving them an easier to hit and get airborne than many other blade sets.
The PowerBilt Story
Previously owned by Hillerich Bradsby, who famously own the Louisville Slugger bat brand, PowerBilt is a golf brand with a rich 100 year history. The brand has been synonymous with excellence and performance since 1916, quickly earning a place at the top of the golf world and establishing a consistent presence on the PGA tour. PowerBilt clubs have been used on the professional level to win 8 major championships and over 140 total tour victories. Most notably, Fuzzy Zoeller famously carried his PowerBilt clubs in the classic PowerBilt orange bag as he won the 1979 Masters and 1984 US Open Championships.
Hilco Streambank acquired the PowerBilt brand from H B in 2016. Since acquiring the brand, Hilco Streambank is actively expanding the breadth of the Powerbilt brand by adding new regional licensees and expanding the categories under the Powerbilt brand trademark to include soft goods/apparel, and into other areas outside of golf such as fitness and performance apparel and equipment. In addition, Hilco Streambank is working to make the PowerBilt brand more innovative and high tech with options for all skill sets and age groups, while continuing to build upon and enrich the brand?s storied history.
Review: "Yea, Powerbilt was a major player in the 70s into the early 80s. Though they made some great blades, among them the Momentum MBs(I believe that they were first released in '78), they were best known for their persimmon woods, with the Citation line being the premier line. "The" player's bag in the 70s consisted of Citation woods with either Staff, Hogan or MacGregor blades.
Toney Pena left one of the big OEMs and manufactured some great persimmon woods, though he was a niche player. In 1978(18yo), I played a Toney Pena driver, Citation 3-4-5 woods Hogan Director irons with the Staff 8802 putter. It was the bomb..lol
Powerbilt released a few different iron sets under the Momentum moniker, though the muscle back blades were top shelf.
Practice with them, it'll improve your ball striking."
This vintage set is a quality, top of the line product hidden in sheep's clothing, in exceptional condition, there are minimal scratches and dings, have the original grips, great looking shafts, as well as minimal groove wear.
The 2 iron is a Dunlop John Jacobs System 300
The Arnold Palmer 6 Iron and Wilson Sam Snead Signature 8 iron were added to complete the set.
These irons will be a great set for many years.
Metal shafts in excellent condition.
Original grips were retained for authenticity and originality, but should be replaced for actual play.
Grooves are sharp, clean, and deep.
