Item description
DIAMONDS BID
by Julian Rathbone
London: Michael Joseph, (1967).
First edition, first printing;
Advance copy with Walker and Company printed typed-in review slip laid in.
Typed-in slip statement includes "Advance English Proof, ...September 8, 1967"
Jonathan Smollet and Helena Wright are featured in Rathbone's first book--set in and around Turkey, peopled with a wide variety of characters, rich with political factors and crimes, and plotted with an intricate mystery.
Minutely bumped to the rear corner of the lower spine edge, else very nearly fine in smoke-black textured boards with silver embossed titles, device and decoration to the spine; in a near fine M. Mohan designed dust jacket with slight fading to the spine panel and a short tear to the upper edge of the front panel; original 25s net printed price still intact to the front inner flap.
