Item description
Vintage original 11 x 14 in. US single-weight glossy photograph from the 1980s horror film, GHOST STORY, released in 1981 by Universal Pictures and directed by John Irvin. Based upon the novel by Whitley Streiber, two generations of men find themselves haunted by the presence of a spectral woman. When the son of one of the elderly men returns to his hometown after his brother's mysterious death, they attempt to unravel her story.
The image depicts a candid publicity shot of co-stars John Houseman, Douglas Fairbanks Jr., and Fred Astaire as they attend what is the presumably the film's premiere. This photograph was used for publication in a newspaper and features a clear sheet of acetate affixed to the top with a dark orange wash which lifts to reveal the photo itself. There are blue grease pencil marks in the bottom border. Affixed to the verso is a newspaper clipping of this actual photograph along with a handwritten note. It is in fine+ condition as shown.
Provenance: The Hearst Herald Examiner newspaper archive.
