Item description
THE LANDLORD'S DAUGHTER
by Monica Dickens
Garden City, New York: Doubleday Company, Inc., 1968.
First edition, first printing.
"First edition" statement to the copyright page.
The author, a great grand daughter of Charles Dickens, was born in London and moved to live with her husband in Massachusetts before this novel was written.
Set from the 1930s through the early 1960s, featuring Charlotte Lambert, a woman with secrets about incidents incurred during the Great Depression, and an accident that started her path to another, hidden, double-life.
This novel is considered the popular British novelist's American audience focused launch book, promoted by an American publisher.
Quite elusive in this American edition.
Mild age-toning to the inner hinge area as usual, else very nearly fine in beige linen over black linen with black embossed titles to the spine; in a near fine slightly rubbed dust jacket with tiny creased tears to the upper and lower spine edges; original printed $5.95 price still intact to the front inner flap.
Octavo; 329 pages.
NOTE: We have placed the dust jacket in a new clear Bro-dart sleeve for protection. The sleeve is easily removed if desired.
