Item description
Factory Sealed Band New DVD- Thin Pack
Our Sku INC (Ted-Floor-3-31-A )--4oz
As produced by and originally aired on The History Channel, this feature-length historical documentary does not examine the crucifixion of Jesus Christ, as one might expect from its title, but crucifixions as a historical phenomenon. As the program reminds its audience, crucifixions per se preceded Christ's death by centuries and continued to be employed after his death. The program dissects this method of capital punishment (one of the most brutal ever devised) piece by piece, and discusses the many martyrs who chose to literally align themselves with Christ's sufferings by experiencing the same ordeal. It is enhanced by a forensic reconstruction of a crucified body via 2000-year-old evidence, and footage of contemporary crucifixions, which some people undergo voluntarily during Easter week. CG-animated graphics are used to illustrate the various methods of ancient crucifixions.
