Item description
DANCING IN THE DARK:
Words By
by Howard Dietz
(New York): Quadrangle/The New York Times Book Co. (1974).
First edition.
Illustrated with a bounty of photographs.
Dietz, MGM's veteran Vice President in charge of Publicity is credited with creating their Lion mascot.
A veteran lyricist and librettist, Dietz was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame and the American Theater Hall of Fame.
The Algonquin Round Table wit has over sixteen Broadway musical hits to his credit as a lyricist, mostly partnered with music by Schwartz.
As MGM's publicist, he associated with numerous Hollywood stars, and includes some of their anecdotes and candid photographs in this rich autobiography.
Some uniform tan offsetting to the front end-paper, else near fine in fresh blue linen with silver embossed titles to the spine; in a nearly fine a dust jacket with a very faint crimp to the upper corner tips; original $10.00 price still intact to the front inner flap.
A presentable collectible, and a lovely gift item.
Octavo; 370 pages; index.
