Item description
UP THE GOLDEN STAIR
by Elizabeth Yates
New York: E.P. Dutton Co., Inc., 1966.
First edition, first printing.
Contains publisher's "First edition" statement to the copyright page.
Elizabeth Yates (1905-2001) was a highly regarded journalist for the NY Times and the Christian Science Monitor, before turning her talents to writing successful children's books, letters and literature.
She won numerous awards including the Newbery Medal for AMOS FORTUNE FREE MAN, and the Sara Josepha Hale Award for her distinguished body of letters and literature.
This literary work dealing with death and sorrow contains essays, a letter, memoirs, and poems to offer courage, strength and philosophy through "an approach to a deeper understanding of life through personal sorrow".
Mild very small tan stain to fore-edge of the first two page edges, faint age-toning to the end-papers, else very good in blue linen over golden-sand boards with gilt embossed titles to the spine; in a rubbed very good dust jacket with tiny nicks to the upper spine edge; original $2.95 printed price still intact to the front inner flap.
Octavo; 64 pages.
