Kikumura, a film, television and stage actress, also holds a PhD in anthropology and teaches Asian-American studies and anthropology at University of California.
This biography of the author's father, Saburo Tanaka, is drawn from research and memories from her mother and herself.
Her father immigrated to America, had thirteen children, was incarcerated in the Japanese internment camp during WWII, had a gambling problem, and enforced traditional values and customs on his children.
