Item description
Vintage original 27x40 in. US single-sided advance one-sheet poster from the popular 2000's fantasy/mystery drama, HUGO, released in 2011 by Paramount Pictures and directed by Martin Scorsese. Based upon the book, The Invention of Hugo Cabret, by Bryan Selznick, Hugo is an orphan boy living in the walls of a train station in 1930s Paris. He learned to fix clocks and other gadgets from his father and uncle which he puts to use keeping the train station clocks running. The only thing that he has left that connects him to his dead father is an automaton (mechanical man) that doesn't work without a special key. Hugo needs to find the key to unlock the secret he believes it contains. On his adventures, he meets George Melies, a shopkeeper, who works in the train station, and his adventure-seeking god-daughter. Hugo finds that they have a surprising connection to his father and the automaton, and he discovers it unlocks some memories the old man has buried inside regarding his past. The cast includes Asa Butterfield, Chloë Grace Moretz, Ben Kingsley, Christopher Lee, Sacha Baron Cohen, Ray Winstone, and Emily Mortimer.
As indicated by the date at the bottom ("NOVEMBER 23"), this is the single-sided advance one-sheet poster that was issued for display at theaters before the film was released. It is rolled as originally issued in very fine condition without any pinholes, tears, stains, writing, or other flaws. Hugo is a loving tribute to Georges Melies, one of the most important of the early worldwide silent film pioneers.
Provenance: This example came directly from Paramount Pictures (see the accompanying image of the box) with posters from other Paramount films. It is a guaranteed vintage original poster printed for display at theaters and is not a reprint or reproduction.
