The book has a paper dust jacket present as well as a plastic protective cover on top of that. The book was published by the Columbia University Press, and has a copyright date of 1983. The dust jacket has some wear at the edges, at the top of the spine, and particularly at the top back cover, which has a small piece missing, but the dust jacket and plastic cover have done a great job of protecting the book cover. The spine and binding are holding well, and all 943 pages are intact and in good condition. This is a nice desk top encyclopedia. It is a very useful item to have on hand.
