Item description

Newspaper: Wabash Daily Times Star, Wabash, Indiana. Date: February 8, 1918. Prominent news stories include: 13 Hoosiers lost on SS Tuscania; Tuscania was torpedoed about Six O'Clock Tuesday; Americans enter the German front line trenches. Condition: 8 pages, complete and intact. Good to very good condition, with moderate wear including double vertical fold, pencil writing on top left corner, small edge tears. Comes folded or rolled, depending upon existing fold lines. Comments: SS Tuscania was a luxury liner of the Anchor Line, a subsidiary of the Cunard Line and named after Tuscania, Italy. In 1918 the ship was torpedoed and sunk by the German U-boat UB-77 while transporting American troops to Europe with the loss of 210 lives.
