This is a porcelain square hot pad so you could set hot items on the table, made in Japan, circa pre 1920's marked Hand Painted Nippon. Hand-painted floral design, it has a raised base. It measures approximately 4 7/8" wide. The lady I purchased everything from had lots of individual standalone pieces she purchased from antique stores, but she also had a home kiln that she made items with and then got together with friends and painted the pieces.
