Item description

Please note there are no chemical insecticides in this product and they probably would not work worth a hoot at keeping anything away but that is how they tried to sell them back then. Formerly in the inventory of a gift shop in Philadelphia which closed about thirty years ago, and these were vintage at that time already. Probably sixties. These were made in Taiwan and most amusing marketed as something to keep the bugs and mosquitos away. The sticks are about ten inches long, There are five packages of which one does not have the paper tag at top. Packages are both sealed and unsealed and the number of sticks in each is not consistent. Artwork features your typical American boy with freckles and tousled hair and no chance he is wearing shoes. And he has a lit stick held between his teeth. They have the size and shape of incense sticks but probably are just slowly combusting. Likely just "punk" sticks which were commonly used to light fireworks. Effectiveness against insects was probably pretty low although I would be sure none landed on the end of the lit stick.
