Item description

Sebastian Miniatures, Jimmy Fund, School Boy was number 1 in the series, made for Stacy's Gifts in Walpole, MA, as a limited first edition, only 3567 produced, Silver label 1983, P W Baston, SML410, Lance 2952, no box, hand painted, marked SAR/E/1, 3 3/4" tall. More information from the Jimmy Fund website: The Jimmy Fund solely supports Boston's Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, raising funds for adult and pediatric cancer care and research to improve the chances of survival for cancer patients around the world. Since its founding in 1948, the Jimmy Fund has raised millions of dollars through thousands of community fundraising events. The story of the Jimmy Fund is one of grassroots involvement — of thousands of people organizing bake sales, lemonade stands, runs, walks, golf tournaments, dances, and softball games to raise money for cancer research and care. The Jimmy Fund is an official charity of the Boston Red Sox, Massachusetts Chiefs of Police Association, Pan-Mass Challenge, and Variety Children's Charity of New England. In 1948, The Jimmy Fund was launched with the help of the Variety Club of New England. The club organized a radio broadcast from the bedside of a young cancer patient as he was visited by members of the Boston Braves baseball team. Jimmy's story began in 1948 when Dr. Sidney Farber's 12-year-old patient, Einar Gustafson — the original "Jimmy" — was an inspiration to hundreds of thousands of people. Ships from South Carolina
