This is a large and weighty oil lamp. I buy the oil specifically made to burn in these lamps but it may have originally burned other combustibles. I believe it is an antique probably from the 1800's. The pattern in the well of the lamp and the base are the same. I doubt it has the original burner but I did change the wick. I have used it through the years when we had no power mostly. It throws off a little heat and enough light to get around. I probably will need to empty the oil from it before it is shipped due to postal regulations although there is only a small amount in it. I am not shipping a chimney. They are easy to find even in the big box home improvement stores. I was told this pattern is from US Glass. It is clear glass.
