Item description

Up for sale is a beautiful marbled cone snail shell (conus marmoreus). They live in coral reefs in Asia and are predatory, hunting other mollusks, including other cone snails. Despite its beautiful markings, the living marbled cone snail is a gastropod (snails and slugs) that is incredibly dangerous to humans. When the cone snail attacks its prey, it sticks out its long white proboscis to shoot a poisonous harpoon, which can cause paralysis in humans. The marbled cone snail shell would make a great gift for a shell collector, for use in a terrrarium, as beach decor and also as a conversation piece or teaching tool.
