About The Record:
Coming Out, by Manhattan Transfer, marked a significant step in the group's evolution, blending jazz, pop, and vocal harmony with a polished, contemporary sound. It was their second album for Atlantic Records and showcased their versatility through diverse tracks, ranging from swing to disco-influenced numbers. Historically, the album is notable for capturing the group?s transition toward mainstream appeal while retaining their jazz roots, reflecting the era?s fusion of genres. The hit single Chanson D?Amour became a breakout success, reaching the top 10 in several countries, including No. 1 in the UK, and remains one of their signature songs. Another notable track, Operator, also gained attention for its gospel-infused energy, though it didn?t achieve the same commercial heights.
