Scarce historical novel, set in the Roman province of Britain, featuring General Carausius who was the supreme commander of the Channel Fleet and fought off the barbarians who sought to plunder Britain as Rome was in decline. In doing so, he found himself the Emperor of the first British Empire with many enemies.
