The base is slightly indented just above the bottom, so it could also be used as a base for something else, perhaps a punch bowl or cake plate. I am unsure of the age or origins of the platter, but I think it may be Princess House. It is 1.25" tall, 14.5" in diameter, and is clear in color. It is a very nice pressed glass serving platter, with a wonderful, light catching pattern, and would add a touch of elegance to any table.
