Item description

Auto Strop was founded in 1906 and acquired by Gillette in the 1930's.These razors were produced for only about 40 years, from 1906 to 1946. Comes with original box and two razors. The Valet name came in 1921 so these were made 1921 – 1946. These two appear to be Model VCI’s made between 1922 -1929. Blade holder still functions as new The razor set is from the days when disposable blades were not available. The razor does not strop itself. A small strop is slipped through the guides in razor and a lever releases the blade to flip back and forth, turning the razor into a stropper. Thus, the blade can be stropped without removing it from the razor. These auto-Strop shavers were often issued to the military going into the field as they were considered self sharpening. The US army would have a identifying stamp imprinted, the Canadian Military bought “off the shelf” so no markings. This reinforced cardboard box is a basic container suggesting military issue as more elaborate leather Auto Strop Valet shaving kits were also sold. Blade holder still functions as new, sprung steel clip for blade and strop still strong. As you can see box is scuffed scratched and faded but the advertising still visible. The condition of the shavers are commensurate with the their age and use. Please examine the pictures for the most accurate condition of the product. Look at the pictures carefully as they provide the most accurate representation of the condition as part of the description.
