Item description
This great antique toy is coming to you from the ?PA TOYS OF TIMES PAST? collection. And here we have the GUNTHERMANN TIN WINDUP MOTORCYCLE with SPARK.
Early Gunthermann tin windup Motorcycle. Great version with external mechanisms that on one side is the windup mechanism and the other side has the sparking mechanism. A very rare and desirable motorcycle toy. Measures 7 1/2" Great Lithograph with some scuff and lost paint I few areas, normal on a 100 year old toy. There is a slight modification to the left front fork where it attaches to the axle. The Gunthermann tin windup motorcycle holds a significant place in toy history. Manufactured by Gunthermann, a German toy company founded in the late 19th century, these tin windup motorcycles became iconic in the early to mid-20th century. They were known for their intricate designs, attention to detail, and reliable windup mechanisms. The motorcycle toys were often crafted from lithographed tinplate, which gave them a shiny and colorful appearance. The windup mechanism allowed them to move forward when wound up, often with the help of a key. These toys were popular among children and collectors alike for their realistic movements and charming aesthetic. Gunthermann tin windup motorcycles are now highly sought after by collectors due to their rarity and historical significance in the world of toy manufacturing. They represent a time when mechanical toys were at the forefront of innovation and entertainment, capturing the imaginations of generations of children. PATOYSHOP.
