Houses
like this one dot the Mediterranean beaches of Six-Four-les-Plages,
near Marseille. Le Brusc, where I spend several weeks each year, is one
of the villages. In the distance is Mont Sainte-Beaume, a famous Christian pilgrimage site, reputed to be the refuge of Mary Magdalene after Jesus's crucifixion.
David Camardo (1939-2023) lived and painted in the rural Gold Country of Amador County, California and in Le Brusc, France. He began studying art in 1962 and lived for more than 40 years in Woodside, California. Through the years he received prizes and commissions for painting, sculpture, and drawings, which have been exhibited in numerous shows in northern California, both group and solo. His work is in the permanent collection of the San Jose Museum of Art as well as private collections both in the US and France.
