Item description
Brand new factory sealed vhs tape looks almost as good as the dvd counterpart. This Studio Heritage edition represents a painstaking restoration of the best B W visual and audio componets available fully restoring the film to its original clarity, richness and brilliance.
Retro pop-n-go video has no fussy menus to contend with and as a special feature it contains the original theatrical trailer.
This is among the best of director Frank Capra's comedy/dramas.
Stewart gives a stirring performance as a forthright freshman senator who encounters corruption in the nation's capital. It's an inspiring portrait of how elected officials ought to behave. Stewart's naive, inarticulate, and clumsy character is an interesting contrast to Rain's, who portrays a sophisticated and manipulative orator--a contrast that enhances Capra's theme of the triumph of the ordinairy person over the corrupt elite.
Receiving a total of 11 Oscar nominations and winning Best Picture it also marked the end of an era--it was Frank Capra's final film for the studio.
