Item description
Originally belonging to my neighbor's father, this ANTIQUE, VINTAGE, Marked “Sterling Silver Dark Blue Enamel State Of New Jersey 10 Years Employee Service Scatter Lapel Pin" dates to the mid-1940s. Passed down to my friend upon her father's death in 2008, she is getting ready to move to a smaller home. With NO children, she has asked me to help her sell many of the things she can't take with her, including this Pin; it comes from a smoke-free, pet-free home. With a diameter of approximately 5/8ths, the Pin Back measures approximately 5/8ths of an inch long, working smoothly and holding securely; it is Marked “AE Ster”.
The “AE” stands for American Emblem Company which was located in Utica, New York. Showing a highly detailed depiction of the New Jersey State Coat Of Arms in the center, the outer ring of Dark Blue Enamel has the words “State Of New Jersey" at the top and the words “10 Years Service" at the bottom. This Pin was masterfully crafted with EXQUISITE detailing. A high quality, finely crafted pin, it is full of eye-catching detail. With a FABULOUS, CLASSICAL design, remarkable detailing, and artistry that is exceptional and distinctive, this HANDSOME Pin is looking for a new home!
The New Jersey State coat of arms includes: A shield with three plows, representative of New Jersey’s agricultural tradition. A forward-facing helmet. A horse's head as the crest of the helmet. The female figures Liberty and Ceres, representative of the state's motto - Liberty is holding a staff supporting a stylized Phrygian cap and Ceres is holding an overflowing cornucopia. The streamer at the foot of the emblem contains the State Motto "Liberty and Prosperity" and the year of statehood, 1776. The horse's head with a helmet beneath shows that New Jersey governs itself. It has three plows on a shield to highlight the state's agriculture tradition, which shows why the state has the nickname "Garden State". The two Goddesses represent the state motto, "Liberty and Prosperity” - Liberty is on the left holding a staff with a liberty cap on it and the word liberty underneath her and the goddess on the right is Ceres, goddess of agriculture, holding a cornucopia with prosperity written below her.
