Item description
Vintage original copper Department Store Token "Charga-Plate" Credit Token by Farrington.
Embossed copper metal card with paper insert complete with signature. The customer's name and address are embossed on the copper.
The plate measures approx. 2 1/2" x 1 1/4"

These metal charge plates were popular in the 50s. When used to make a purchase the metal plate was placed in a machine with an inked ribbon between the plate and sales slip that transferred the plate`s impression onto the sales slip (or multiple carbon paper slips) when a handle was pulled down.
