Vintage TAXCO Mexico Sterling SILVER Abalone BUTTERFLY BROOCH Pin Sign SJ 1 7/8" This is a vintage TAXCO MEXICO STERLING SILVER and ABALONE BUTTERFLY BROOCH! Truly beautiful, the craftsmanship that went into this buttefly brooch! Made of Sterling Silver, the abalone shell was worked into the wings of this butterfly! The back's hallmarks are partially legible. One can see the "3" inside the bell like shape which indicates that it is a Taxco piece pre 1950. Also "Hencho" which is how the pieces are marked meaning "Made" as in Made in Mexico. The artists first two initials "SJ" are also seen. The last one is not legible. Although not perfect, this is a fabulous brooch! BRAND/MARKED: Marked with a 3 which indicates Taxco, visible is "Hencho" and the first two initials of the artist "SJ" STONES: Abalone Shell METAL: Sterling Silver CLASP: Roll Over Safety Clasp TYPE: Brooch, Pin , Broach MEASUREMENTS: 1 7/8" CONDITION: This piece of jewelry is in pre-owned and vintage used condition. The clasp is in full working order. There are imperfections in the abalone shell that are not smoothed out. A depression on the bottom left wing piece and smaller dips in the right wings.
