The historic Swiss species with its large, characteristic pink-coloured fruits, is due to its full taste one of the most popular varieties among tomato lovers. It is easy recognized by its slightly blue colour. The juicy fruits show rather late and have a soft skin that makes them vulnerable for cracks and less suited for longer transportation. Natural Location: Cultivation: Since tomato plants should only be planted out from mid May after the last nightly frosts, it is advisable to start propagation in mid or end of March in a bright and warm room indoors. As soon as the seedlings develop the second pair of leaves, you can prick out until the first leave pair, and plant the sprouts into small 10 cm pots with potting earth for tomato plants and a bottom hole. Be gentle with the fine roots and dont forget to modestly water the fresh soil.
