The stone was of decent quality, allowing light to emanate through so that it does appear a sapphire blue (on the darker side). The setting was simple, not too "blingy" (There's a certain elegance in simplicity...). The stone size was large enough to make a statement but not overwhelming. The chain it came with did not add anything to the pendant. With a different bale, it could turn a pearl necklace or choker sized heavier chain into a necklace that can be worn for casual or formal events. Lovely pendant, decent quality stone for the price
