Features a brown wool upper body and a stiff russet brown fiber visor, with the underside in green. The stitching on the visor is tight. It includes a smooth russet brown chinstrap, secured by split pin buttons. The brown leather chinstrap is also held in place by side buttons The brown leather sweatband remains intact, supple, and the cap retains its internal cap spring for shape retention. Double vent grommets on each side are intact. The two-piece gilt eagle insignia is original to the cap. The interior displays the original celluloid sweat shield which has discolored due to age. Marked Size 7. The soldiers laundry number ?F6313 is stamped on the celluloid sweat shield and the leather sweatband. The maker is ?Society Brand Headwear, Society Brand Hat Co. St. Louis, MO. The olive drab wool body of the cap is quite clean, without holes, moth nips, stains, or damage. Excluding the aged celluloid sweat shield, this would be hard to upgrade.
