Distinguished musicologist, opera conductor, and director Saul Lilienstein is well known as the voice of Washington National Opera?s Commentaries on CD and for his frequent guest lectures at the Kennedy Center, the Smithsonian, and other venues. A former student of Leonard Bernstein, Mr. Lilienstein was active in Baltimore in the 1960s as a choral conductor working as Music Director of the Handel Choir and The Hartford Choral Society. Subsequently, he turned to opera and produced and conducted 50 works as Artistic Director of The Hartford Opera Theater and Operetta Renaissance. His music articles have appeared in many international publications.
