It is hand crafted locally in South Canterbury from slink or lamb skin, and Possum fur. Possum fur comes from an introduced pest to New Zealand that is rapidly destroying our native forests. This ladies hat has a flat round crown to which panelled sides are attached. Around the bottom is a trim of Possum fur. It is designed to fit the head snuggly and it provides excellent insulation from cold temperatures. This hat is available with the crown and sides in dark Chocolate brown curly Slinkskin with natural brown fur. If your hat becomes wet it will not be damaged, but ensure it is left to dry naturally away from a direct source of heat. Should it ever require cleaning, specialist dry cleaning is recommended.
