Item description
Produced and published by one of the most prolific mapmakers of the era, E.S. Glover, this stunning depiction of Green River, Wyoming, captures the region in a period of significant transformation as the American West became increasingly accessible and the discovery of numerous mineral deposits attracted eager prospectors from across the globe. The Union Railroad reached Green River in 1868 and found a settlement with two thousand residents, causing the division point to be established some twelve miles to the South, which formed the new town of Bryan. This caused considerable harm to Green Riverโs local economy until the water dried up in Bryan, and the location was shifted back to the city as it could supply the steam locomotives with the water necessary for their operation.
Birds eye perspectives were widely popular during the mid-nineteenth and twentieth centuries and served to entice residents and merchants alike, featuring prominent civic buildings, religious and educational institutions, as well as cultural and economic opportunities. Green Riverโs economy has always relied heavily on mining, and the Green River Basin contains the worldโs largest deposit of sodium carbonate. It also contained vast reserves of oil and natural gas.
Birds eye perspectives bear a distinctive style and unique aesthetic that is immediately recognizable. They transport the viewer back in time, creating an indelible bond between the past and present. This is an authentic piece of American cartographical history that captures a significant moment in one of the most iconic places in American history.
Our museum quality giclee print comes printed with archival ink on premium heavyweight matte paper. Shipped in a sturdy cardboard tube your print will arrive ready to be framed. This eye-catching vintage map reproduction print makes the perfect gift for anyone that loves history and imagery.
