Item description
NICHOLAS GOADE, DETECTIVE
By E. Phillips Oppenheim.
Boston: Little, Brown, and Company, 1929.
First U.S. edition, first printing.
"Published November 1929" statement to the copyright page, 1929 printed to the title page, $2.00 to the jacket's flap.
A collection of ten longer mystery stories featuring Scotland Yard's Detective Goade as he travels on a six month leave, only to find himself solving ten mysteries, each in one of the locations he visits.
A nicely presentable vintage hardcover in a scarce dust jacket.
Former owner's 1976 dated name to the front end-paper, a touch of rubbing to the upper and lower spine edges, a hint of fading to the upper spine end, else near fine in bright orange linen with black embossed titles to the front cover and to the spine; in a very good dust jacket with eye-catching, stylized daggers, gliding women, and dead man art by 'M', with shelf-edge tears, heavy chipping to the corners and to the upper and lower spine ends and nearby front panel, mild creases and fading/tanning to the spine panel; original printed $2.00 net price still intact to the front inner flap.
The dust jacket will be placed in a clear protective, removable sleeve after photographing for this entry.
