This is a vintage 8x10 inch photograph that was professionally photo lab printed on glossy real photographic paper. It has been stored in a filing cabinet in my archive since I acquired it. Very typical of the 1980's and 1990's photographs were printed on a high quality heavier glossy paper stock and often had a small white border. This is a lost art from a forgotten photographic era and rarely used today. Fiber-based paper is just that: a photographic emulsion on a base of paper, which is made from fibers of wood. To ensure the highlights reflect enough light and that the shadows absorb enough light, manufacturers add a layer of barium sulfate. That's why photographers sometimes call fiber-based paper ?baryta? paper. Photos printed in the early 2000's were usually on borderless glossy photographic paper.
