Item description
PFAS25 Antique 5" x 3" autograph of early Russian pianist Xenia Prochorowa where the fan has mounted a photo of her besides her autograph to make it almost a hand signed picture - This has great charactrer but please be aware due to its age there is some mild wrinkling and also there is browning with light ageing - there are marks to reverse where lifted from the original autograph album - my grading is fair plus bordering good minus and buyer must be fully aware - However a very rare signing with undedicated original autograph of this very early Moscow pianist
Xenia Prochorowa was born in Moscow in 1915. She studied piano at the Moscow Conservatory with Prof. Karl Kipp, and later with Nicolas Medtner. In 1933 she was the winner of the International Franz Liszt Competition in Budapest. She toured offering concerts and master classes throughout the American continent from 1933-1952, and through Europe from 1952-1963. In 1964 she was appointed piano lecturer at the College of Music, University of Cape Town, South Africa.
