Extremely -Rare Pair of Pioneer Asbestos Sad Irons With Changeable Handle---The legend that goes with these sad irons was pretty interesting.Supposedly they were recovered from a pioneer cabin in Missouri They are really old. The irons are rough but usable (although I don't know anyone would want to to use them.) They are great decorations and very collectible. The irons are both 6-1/2 in long but have different weights. One weighs 4# 15 oz. It is 1-3/4 in high. The other one is marked 72B and it is only 1-1/2 inches tall. It weighs 4 lbs. 8 ounces. The handle cover fits over both irons and a lever locks the iron in so they can be moved from stove to laundry. The iron are in pretty good condition but the locking handle is thin and parts of the wooden handle and the locking mechanism is broken on one side AMAZINGLY IT STILL WORKS. The handle metal is thin and rusty. They are sold AS IS but mill make good door stops and decorations.
