Item description
Royal Doulton Character Jug
EARL MOUNTBATTEN D6851
Produced in 1990 in a Limited Edition of 9,500, this Royal Doulton Character Jug D6851 depicts EARL MOUNTBATTEN OF BURMA, commonly known as Lord Montbatten, wearing his British Navy uniform. The handle consists of the British Navy ensign, the flag flown on all British ships.
A British naval and military leader, Louis Francis Albert Victor Nicholas Mountbatten (1900?1979) was the last Viceroy of India and subsequently Admiral of the Fleet. In 1946 he had been created the first Viscount Mountbatten of Burma, and in 1947 he was elevated to the first Earl Mountbatten of Burma. Upon his retirement from the Navy in 1959, he became the principal military adviser to the Ministry of Defense. He was killed when an IRA bomb exploded his fishing boat off the coast of Ireland.
Hand painted in England. Approximately 3.25 inches tall (about 8.25 cm). Designed by Stanley J. Taylor. Fully marked on the bottom with the Royal Doulton trademark.
Because I am selling more than one of these character jugs, the number on the bottom of the one you receive may not match the one in the photo.
EXCELLENT CONDITION: no chips, cracks, repairs, scuffs or crazing. "Like new" but no box.
